27 new artists compete in a songwriting contest, wishing to become Nashville's Next Best of 3. This reality show takes the audience on the journey of writing and creating a song right to the end result. In the second phase of the competition, the artists are joined by a full band to perform their original songs. Karree Phillips, Randy Vanvooren, and Roger Adams stand on this round, but only one of them will continue.
