Captain Casey Reardon learns that notorious gangster boss Enzo Cortino possesses a secret ledger which could potentially be used to bring him to justice. The ledger is supposedly with his girlfriend Helena Varga, so Reardon sends a spirited and spunky young black female detective named Christie Love on undercover assignment to get to the heart of what makes Varga tick and get her to co-operate. Hoping with Varga and the ledger, they will finally be able to bring down Cortino once and for all.
