The episode tells the true story of author Robert Louis Stevenson's time on the island of Tahiti, where the islanders revere him as "Tusitala" - the Teller of Tales - believing him to possess magical and powerful qualities. When two rival chiefs on the island prepare for war due to petty jealousy, Tusitala uses his intellect and storytelling ability to convince both leaders to make peace, thereby preserving the tranquility of the island and its people.
